DeLonghi Rivelia - Decalcification

Decalcification is one of the most important maintenance tasks to ensure the proper operation of coffee machines. Many of the malfunctions of these devices are due to "scale" in the system. This means that lime deposits, formed as a result of using hard water, restrict the flow, leading to slower brewing of coffee, lowering the temperature of the drink and deteriorating its taste. Systematic descaling avoids these problems and significantly extends the life of the machine.

DeLonghi Rivelia - Step-by-step descaling

If a message indicating that descaling is required appears when the machine is turned on, you must perform the process. If you select "Cancel", the machine will continue to display a reminder to descale, and you can start the process later in the machine's settings.

For decalcification, we recommend the use of an agent COFFIX Descaler ECO, which is ideal for DeLonghi espresso machines.

We carry out the decalcification process as follows:

  1. Start Decalcification.
  2. We put on the water nozzle.
  3. Empty the drip tray and grounds container and put them back in place.
  4. Remove the water tank.
  5. If you use a water filter, remove it for descaling and immerse it in a pot of water.
  6. Pour the decalcification solution into the tank COFFIX Descaler ECO.
  1. Put on the tank filled with descaling solution and press.
  2. Set a 1.5L container or dishes under the spouts of the machine.
  3. The espresso machine performs the descaling process.
  4. When finished, we empty the substituted container(s) and remove the water tank, which we thoroughly rinse with warm water from the descaler residue.
  5. Fill the water tank to capacity and put it in place.
  6. Set the 1.5 L container(s) under the spouts of the machine.
  7. The machine performs a rinse from the descaler solution.
  8. When finished, we reinstall the water filter and fill the tank to the MAX level.
  9. We put the water tank in place.
  10. Set the 1.5L container(s) under the machine's spouts.
  11. The espresso machine performs a final rinse.
  12. Empty the substituted containers and drip tray.
  13. Fill the water tank.

The device is ready for further work.

Worth knowing

Two important factors affect the frequency of the descaling process:

  • Set water hardness - When we first start up, we test and set the water hardness of our appliance to determine the water parameters and the frequency of the descaling process. Therefore, it is important that the water hardness is tested correctly.
  • Water filter - Use of a water filter COFFIX CF106(High quality replacement as DLSC002) improves the taste of the coffee, but most importantly reduces the amount of limescale deposited inside the machine. So it's worth taking care of your machine and changing the water filter regularly.
