How often to descale the coffee maker?

Limescale, is one of the most common causes of household appliance failure - it builds up inside the appliance and reduces the flow of water, which can expose us to large costs associated with the repair of the appliance. That's why it's so important to regularly remove limescale from coffee machines by conducting descaling processes. We should decalcify the coffee maker at least once a quarter - even as a preventive measure. This is the absolute minimum that every user of a pressure espresso machine should adhere to. How often the espresso machine should be descaled is mainly determined by three factors. The most important by far is the hardness of the water. If the water you refill the reservoir in the machine is characterized by high hardness, that is, a high concentration of calcium, it will be necessary to descale the machine more often (even every two weeks!). The second important factor is the amount of coffee you make. The more water flows through the coffee maker, the faster it will need to be descaled. The last factor affecting the frequency of descaling is the use of filtration. The filter in the machine reduces the hardness of the water by an average of 8 degrees on the German scale. So if the hardness of the water you pour into the tank is 12-15 degrees of hardness and you use a filter, preventive descaling once a quarter is completely sufficient.

What is water hardness?

If you use any household appliances that need water to operate, you've certainly encountered the term "hard water" or "water hardness." But what exactly is hard water? We define water as hard when it contains a high concentration of minerals; mainly calcium and magnzeu. While such water may have a positive effect on our health, it certainly does not have a positive effect on appliances. The minerals in it settle in thermoblocks, pipes, or boilers and block the flow. As a result, leaks form, which prevent the machine from working properly.

What descalers to use?

We offer both original descalers and top quality replacements. It is important that the descaler is tested and of high quality (for example, based on citric acid), which will ensure that it will not further damage our device. With regular descaling, we get rid of lime deposits that pose a huge threat to the functioning and life of household appliances in our home. We offer products for all brands of coffee makers, including SAECO, Philips, Delonghi, Jura, Melitta, Nivona, Krups, Siemens, Bosch, as well as many other popular manufacturers

How to descale the coffee machine?

To properly decalcify the espresso machine, first of all, you will need an instruction manual. This is an essential element, without which the proper decalcification of the espresso machine simply cannot take place. Each brand of espresso machine, be it Jura, Philips, Melitta or Saeco, has completely different descaling systems. Most home espresso machines require about half a liter of descaler solution with water. The rest is already taken care of by fully automatic system processes. However, it is still worthwhile to carefully read the instructions for descaling your espresso machine before doing so.
